What’s a good dog Christmas gift?

Whatever you do, do not substitute human gifts as gifts for dogs, like a plastic toy that can get stuck in the windpipe or splinter on doggy teeth and gums.

Also never ever give a dog chocolate as a gift. Though some dogs have cast iron tummies, most will get a reaction to chocolate and you may be paying your vet an unplanned emergency Christmas visit rather than enjoying Christmas with your family and (doggy and human) friends.

It’s a really great idea to make dog biscuits for your own and other people’s dogs. Last Christmas I got the recipe for a terrific dog biscuit from my dog wash lady.

Even my greediest big dog slowed down and savored the taste rather than gulp the biscuits in one take.

However, I have never taken the time, tempting though it is, to buy the 3 different types of tinned fish, 2 types of flour and to chop up bunches of parsley to shape up homemade dog biscuits.

You may have more patience than me. Me, I like giving dog gift baskets.
