Yes, it is a lovely idea to make a Christmas cookie gift basket for kids.

Related to this, I fully endorse the idea of teaching kids the magic of cookery and the necessity of cleaning up your own messes and the joys of eating the fruits of your own labors and of making presents to give to others – especially to other kids.

However…

Making a Christmas cookie gift basket as a gift basket for kids has a couple of drawbacks for me.

I am very busy at Christmas and totally strapped for time, so looking for really good shortcuts.

I am hot and flustered in the kitchen at this time of year (Think tropical Australian heat)

I don’t want to cook extra things with anyone or for anyone under pressure – that’s when I’ll really mess everything up and my family will go into “duck and cover” survival mode for days.

I prefer to buy a Christmas cookies gift basket that has a variety of cookies in it, rather than being superwoman coming home from work and sifting out 3-4 different recipes for inclusion in a homemade gift basket.
