OK, so it’s traditionally the ex wife who gets the house, but I couldn’t resist this photo when writing about a gift for ex husband or ex partner.

And I’ve got to say from the outset, how delightfully civilized that people are looking to gift an ex partner.

You know, there are a very few (mainly Scandinavian) countries where kids are taught in school to be nice to people they once had relationships with and to get on with them for the sake of community harmony and personal happiness.

Maybe that springs from the fact that in the aformentioned countries, there is not a huge population and you are more than likely to run into your ex husband, ex wife or ex partner at the shops, in the workplace or down the pub.

Whatever you do, when buying a gift for ex husband, ex wife, etc, do not give into the temptation to be sarcastic or ironic. Give in an honest spirit of goodwill and you and s/he will feel much better for the experience and it will be money well spent.

Now, because men love consumables, do check out gift baskets for men as the best gift for a guy when you do have fond shared memories, but you don’t want to be too intimate in your gift giving.
